Problem

Cable TV networks are rapidly being converted to also carry data traffic for computer networking and internet access. Such networks face two immediate challenges;

    Existing cable networks do often not extend to business and industrial customers who have a high demand for data networking services. Laying cable to such customers can be problematic and uneconomic.

    The majority of cable TV systems need expensive modifications to allow data traffic to move upstream from the customer to the headend router.

The Wuta Plus Wireless Solution!

High-speed internet/network access to business customers can be provided using the Wuta Plus Wireless Ethernet Transceiver. Basestations can be established on the cable network and used to provide wireless access to a number of customers at speeds approaching 1.5 million bits per second (1.5 Mb/s). One basestation would serve customers in a two kilometre radius using Wi-LAN’s proprietary spread spectrum radio technology. This distance can be extended to 8 kilometres for line-of-sight links in low-interference areas (e.g. rural areas). Where range permits, high-bandwidth uplink traffic can be sent directly to a Wuta Plus basestation located at the headend router.

Benefits

No wired access technology is able to provide such high-speed connectivity at the low cost of the Wuta Plus system. There are no radio licensing hassles to installing a system. One base station can serve up to 10 users in a local area - to install cable to each user in this situation may be cost prohibitive. After the system is installed there are no monthly or air-time charges. For reliable, painless and fast internet access think Wuta Plus.
