Traffic Control and Monitoring
In times of budgetry constraint, municipalities and governments are trying to use existing infrastructure more efficiently. Many have been expanding their traffic monitoring and control systems to improve traffic flows on arterial roads. These need a reliable method of data communications between the numerous remote traffic controllers and the central master controller. Wired solutions, such as leased lines, are costly and problematic to install.

A Wuta Web wireless solution is a master controller which is located centrally
in a region of remote traffic controllers. The master controller is connected via a
RS-232 port to a single Wuta Web modem which feeds an omni-directional antenna
located on the top of a nearby tower or building. This master controller communicates
with a number of remote traffic controllers located in a 10 km line-of-sight (LOS)
radius around the central transceiver. Each remote traffic controller is connected to
a Wuta Web modem which feeds a directional antenna in an elevated position above
the controller.

Wuta Web was able to provide a reliable and cost effective communications link via the Wuta Web radio. When used to replaced leased lines, the cost of the link was sometimes recovered in only a few months.
