Water and Waste Water

Problem ?

The municipality has invested in a sophisticated monitoring and control system. They wish to perform multiple tasks such as; control pumps, monitor waste ponds for environmental emissions, and monitor levels at every remote water tower. However, the municipality is having difficulty linking all these remote sites together. The source of their problems is three-fold:

1) The use of licensed radios is unattractive because of the added cost of both a site & user license for each radio and because of the long wait to get a special license granted.

2) The use of dedicated phone lines exclusively becomes prohibitive because of the ongoing leasing costs.

3) The municipality does not have a direct line of site to some locations or the main plant may be too remote to reach the area where they need communications.

The Wuta Web Plus Wireless Solution !

Through a site survey one can locate the most appropriate locations for the Wuta Web Plus modems. If there are a number of obstructions that impede the intended radio path, such as buildings in a downtown core, or a very long distance to your field locations, then the municipality may want to run a few dedicated phone lines to a master Wuta Web Plus modem. From the master station, it is possible to address up to 255 remote units. A master unit should be located in areas with good line of sight to the remote locations. If direct line of sight is not possible in a particular area then a Wuta Web Plus modem configured as a repeater may also be utilized.

Benefits

1) No licensing required - The municipality will save on monthly licensing fees which can run over $100.00 per month per radio. There is also the risk that licenses may be unavailable in certain areas because other users may already be actively using the same frequencies. Since the Wuta Web Plus uses the 900 MHz ISM(Industrial, Scientific and Medical) band, there are no licensing costs or hassles.

2) Few dedicated line costs - By leasing just one dedicated line, the municipality will be able to communicate from the 1 master Wuta Web Plus modem to as many as 255 remote Wuta Webs. (NOTE: if all locations are within line of sight, the Wuta Web Solution will not require even a single dedicated telephone line!)

3) Flexibility - Wuta Web Plus modems can be easily moved from site to site. However, dedicated lines are impossible to relocate. Licensed radio can be moved, although the municipality will be required to resubmit a request for licenses at the new location. This once again will result in additional costs and unecessary waiting for the new licensing to be granted.

4) Security - All information that is transmitted by the Wuta Web modems is spread by complex codes. The result is a much lower possibility of interception and/or detection than conventional radios or dedicated telephone lines. Wuta Web products rank among the most secure methods of communication available.
