Security features of spread spectrum
Spread Spectrum (SS) communications, long a favorite technology of the military
because it resists jamming and is hard for an enemy to intercept, is growing in
popularity in commercial applications, especially in the unlicensed frequency bands
allocated for Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) applications.
Some of the typical applications include digital cellular telephones, personal communications system (PCS), various alarm systems, police radars and radios, amateur radio, etc.
Low Probability of Intercept or Detection (LPI, LPD)
It is very difficult to determine if a spread spectrum signal is being sent or received because Spread spectrum signals are designed to provide negligible interference to the communications of other existing users. Security is built in because no-one knows if you are sending signals. It is the Low Probability of Detection feature of spread spectrum that will allow transmission between users of spread spectrum transceivers without interfering with the existing users.

Privacy
A spread spectrum system can provide a large degree of privacy compared to other conventional communications systems. Again because of the Low Probability of Interception feature, a casual listener will not be able to intercept the message contained in a spread spectrum carrier.
Better security than a Lan system.Tests have proven that this technology may be more secure than wired lan systems.
No one has to know you are transmitting because there are no radio licensing hassles.
